FINCA Afghanistan recently surpassed the 60,000-client milestone and plans to reach 90,000 clients by 2009. Estimates of the number of Afghans who make their living through the informal sector vary from three to eight million microentrepreneurs, but no one doubts that microenterprise is the dominant force in the economy.

FINCA is playing a dual role in helping to rebuild Afghanistan: at the grassroots level, we offer microentrepreneurs a wide range of products and services; at the macroeconomic level, we are helping the government rebuild its financial infrastructure.
