FINCA Kosovo Celebrates Seventh Anniversary
Seven years ago, FINCA brought Village Banking to the war-torn region of Kosovo. When we opened our doors to a society devastated by years of ethnic turmoil, the people of Kosovo welcomed the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan disbursed FINCA's first Village Banking loans to nine clients in Kosovo.
Today, FINCA Kosovo has expanded and provides financial services to nearly the entire province, serving clients of all ethnicities. In this male-dominated society, few women participate in the economy. However, with the Kosovo program's extensive outreach, some 3,500 women have been empowered to build small businesses and improve their families' living standards.
